Severe weather causes extensive damage across Louisiana

Severe weather across the state resulted in two deaths and multiple injuries, as well as road closures and downed power lines. Maj. Ginny Higgins with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office says two people were killed when an EF1 tornado touched down in a rural area of the parish.

14 arrested in Rapides Parish burglary ring

14 individuals have been arrested after an extensive burglary investigation by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office. Capt. Tommy Carnline says each time a search warrant was conducted, it led detectives to find more information or the recovery of stolen property. He says the suspects were part of a huge burglary ring.

Two charged in Rapides Parish after young children test positive for drugs

The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office says two people are behind bars amid allegations children in their care tested positive for drugs. Captain Tommy Carnline says the complaint originally came in from the Department of Children and Family Services in regards to a November incident.

RPSO: 15-month-old missing child in Rapides Parish located in briar patch covered in ants

A 15 month old child that went missing overnight in Rapides Parish was located hours later in a briar patch across the street from the Tioga home. Lt. Tommy Carnline with the sheriff's office says they were called to the residence around 7:30 this morning, and the search lasted less than an hour.

17-year-old arrested for making online threats about a high school prom

A 17-year-old is under arrest after making threats online involving the Alexandria Senior High School prom. Rapides Parish Lt. Tommy Carnline says investigators believed an incident could take place at the prom and discovered a fake internet social media account. Carline says evidence found led them to arrest Adrian Ray of Alexandria at his home.

California judge rules Frank Selas is "Mr. Wonder"

After an identity hearing in California today, a judged has ruled Frank Selas is former Monroe TV personality “Mr. Wonder” who is accused of committing sex crimes in Louisiana in the 70s. Lt. Tommy Carnline with the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office says now the process of getting Selas back to Louisiana begins.

70s north Louisiana children's TV personality arrested on child sex crimes

A children’s TV personality in north Louisiana known as, “Mr. Wonder” is in custody on allegations of criminal sexual conduct with juveniles. 76-year-old Frank Selas was arrested in San Diego, California and his alleged crimes date back to the 1970s. Tornados touch down in Louisiana over the weekend

Rapides Parish continues to clean up after severe weather ripped through the area over the weekend.  Rapides Parish Sheriff's Lt. Tommy Carnline says a tornado touched down Saturday morning in the Elmer community that caused some damage.

Off-duty Rapides Parish Deputy killed in crash

The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of its deputy who was killed in an off-duty crash involving a juvenile driver.  32-year-old Deputy Troy Verheyden was killed in the Tuesday night crash in Deville.

Alexandria man arrested for human trafficking

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 55-year-old man in Alexandria on human trafficking charges after receiving a complaint in reference to alleged child abuse. Spokesperson Lt. Tommy Carnline says officers continued their investigation and discovered additional allegations.
