A Pointe Coupee Parish man is ordered to pay $10,250 in civil restitution after being found guilty of killing a Louisiana black bear. 30-year-old Robert Kimble of Lettsworth shot and killed a female bear on Yancy Wildlife Management Area in Concordia Parish last November. General Counsel of Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Yolanda Martin says why she demanded the restitution.

LDWF charge two men for alleged Louisiana Black Bear violations in St. Mary Parish

Two Louisiana men have been cited for alleged Louisiana Black Bear violations in St. Mary Parish on November 12th, 2017. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries spokesperson Adam Einck says they received a tip of the violation in early April of this year and obtained a search warrant.

Feral hog poison could make its way to Louisiana soon

A poison that would kill wild hogs could soon be making its way to Louisiana. The population of the feral animal here is nearly 700,000 and they are become a major nuisance in many areas of the state. Jim LaCour is a veterinarian with LDWF. He says the Environmental Protection Agency has approved a product called Kaput.

Black bear gets removed from endangered species list

The black bear will be formally removed from the endangered species list today at a press conference in Tensas parish. Robert Barham, former Secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries which oversaw efforts to grow the black bear population, says the black bear was once on the brink of extinction.

LDWF to make an announcement regarding the Louisiana black bear today

Today, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will make an important announcement at the Governor's Mansion regarding the Louisiana black bear.  It is expected that the black bear will be officially removed from the threatened species list.

New Iberia man cited with illegal killing of Louisiana Black Bear

The state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says a man is charged with the illegal killing of a Louisiana Black Bear while he was hog hunting in St. Mary Parish. LDWF spokesman Adam Eick says 52-year-old Richard Picard of New Iberia Jr. accidentally shot the animal thinking it was a feral hog.

LDWF offers $7,000 reward for information on black bear killing

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is offering up to  a $7,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the illegal killing of a black bear found in Avoyelles Parish.  Spokesman Adam Einck says they were first contacted about the incident on December 5th.

LDWF offers reward for information on black bear killing

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is seeking leads in the illegal killing of a black bear in Concordia Parish.  Spokesman Adam Einck says this bear was part of their Black Bear Restoration Program and was radio collared to track her movements.

LPB to air special highlighting comeback of the Louisiana Black Bear

LPB will air a documentary tonight that looks at the comeback of the Louisiana Black Bear. Black Bears have been on the Endangered Species List since 1992, when there were fewer than 300 of them in the world. Now there could be as many as one-thousand bears in the state.
