A bill filed for the upcoming regular session would prohibit the use of drones from conducting surveillance of correctional facilities and public and private schools. Lake Charles Representative Stephen Dwight proposed the legislation after the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff requested a law to stop the use of drones from flying over his jail.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's office and the FBI announce the return and arrest of a Top Ten Fugitive accused in the 2008 murder and rape of a woman in front of a young child. Special Agent John Selleck of the FBI New Orleans field office says they've been looking for 26-year-old Jose Guevara of Lake Charles for 6 years.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's office says a pastor at a church was shot and killed while he was preaching Friday night. Spokeswoman Kim Myers says 53-year-old Woodrow Karey of Lake Charles allegedly walked into the church, shot Pastor Ronald Harris Sr. then left.

A Lake Charles woman faces multiple charges for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old girl and holding her captive for a week. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's spokeswoman Kim Myers says the victim fell into the company of 30-year-old Lacey Dronet (pictured), who spent the next several days abusing the girl.
