Governor John Bel Edwards is in California to promote Louisiana as a prime location for TV and film production. A delegation from Louisiana is meeting with executives from Netflix, Hulu, HBO and Walt Disney Studios to name a few. Executive Director of Louisiana Entertainment Chris Stelly say they will promote the state’s revised film tax incentives.

A film starring Academy Award winner Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson and directed by John Lee Hancock has started production of the Netflix movie “Highwaymen” in Louisiana. The film centers on two retired officers attempting to catch Bonnie and Clyde. Executive Director of Louisiana Entertainment Chris Stelly says they will film in Shreveport for a couple of weeks next month.

Filming is underway in Louisiana for a new TV series from Marvel. Louisiana Entertainment Executive Director Chris Stelly says they’re very excited to have the Marvel brand in Louisiana. He says the new show is a spinoff from a Marvel classic, The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Three Louisiana cities are in the Top 10 of the best places to live and work as a moviemaker in 2016. New Orleans ranks number two, Baton Rouge comes in at number three and Shreveport-Bossier is ranked ninth.

This summer might the biggest ever for Hollywood South at the Box Office. Starting this weekend with the opening of the Baton Rouge filmed Pitch Perfect 2, if you hit up the theater this summer there's a good chance you'll see a movie that was filmed in Louisiana.

The new movie "Focus", featuring Will Smith, hits theaters this weekend and it's just one of many major Louisiana shot movies to be released this year. Chris Stelly, Executive Director of Louisiana Entertainment, says "Focus" could top the box office this weekend.

American Horror Story: Freak Show, the FX anthology series which was shot in New Orleans, debuted on Wednesday. This season the show is about a traveling carny sideshow troupe of "mistakes of nature" as the script says.

As summer winds down and we look toward the fall, it looks like another banner year for the film industry in Louisiana. Jurassic World, Pitch Perfect 2, Terminator 5, and a new Fantastic Four movie were all filmed here this year.
