A cold front has crossed the state, bringing Louisiana the coldest weather of the season. State Climatologist Barry Keim says we can expect to see clouds and lingering rain through Thursday. He says break out the sweaters and winter coats.
“Low temperatures this morning are in the 40s across the state and high temperatures this afternoon are only going to reach into the 50s and the temperatures are going to continue to fall over the next few days.”

A significant cold front moved through the Bayou State leaving us with some much needed relief. State Climatologist Barry Keim says this front has brought in much cooler and drier Canadian air and pushed out the warm Gulf of Mexico air. He says the afternoon highs will be in the 70s in northern parishes and low 80s in the coastal zone.

Hurricane Irma is a Category 5 storm moving through the Caribbean, but state climatologist Barry Keim says Irma should be Florida’s problem, not Louisiana’s. He says a cold front will move over the state today and the timing could not be better for Louisiana, but it’s very unfortunate for Florida.

Louisiana is in for a wet weekend as the cold front that passed us earlier in the week is turning back toward the state. State Climatologist Barry Keim says we have about three to four wet days in front of us. He says northern parishes can expect to see anywhere from five to seven inches of rain.

A slow-moving cold front is going to bring a lot of rain across the entire state over the next few days. Mike Marcotte Forecaster with The National Weather Service in Lake Charles says they’re anticipating 24 to 36 hours of moderate to heavy rains into Saturday.
