Former Springfield Police Chief reinstated despite criminal history

The new mayor of Springfield has reinstated former Police Chief Jimmy Jones after he pled guilty to misdemeanor criminal mischief last year for trashing a woman’s DUI citation as a favor to the previous mayor. The town’s attorney Brian Abels says Springfield needed a police chief and the people of the town wanted him back in the position.

Springfield mayor resigns after pleading guilty in a DWI cover up

Springfield Mayor Charles Martin is resigning after pleading guilty to criminal mischief for being involved in a ticket fixing scheme. Assistant LA Attorney General David Caldwell says Martin and Springfield's Police Chief altered a 2011 DWI report to go through misdemeanor court, instead of it being a felony charge.

Grand jury hands down perjury indictment to former DHH Secretary

On Tuesday former Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Secretary Bruce Greenstein was indicted by a grand jury for perjury. The charges stem from allegations Greenstein lied about having contact  with a company he used to work for that was awarded a MAJOR state Medicaid contract.
