A 32-year-old Lafayette man faces up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to using President Donald Trump’s social security number to try and obtain a copy of the president’s federal tax information. Legal Analyst Tim Meche says Jordan Hamlett will likely get probation or very little time. He says no harm was done by Hamlett’s actions.

Following the Panthers game Sunday, Saints Quarterback Drew Brees and Coach Sean Payton each responded to President Donald Trump’s comments regarding players who do not stand during the national anthem. The President said owners should, “get that son of a b” off the field, and fire those who protest racial inequality in that way. Payton says he is disappointed in Mr. Trump’s position.

President Donald Trump announces transgendered individuals are no longer allowed to serve in the U.S. military in any capacity. Richland Parish Congressman Ralph Abraham, who serves on the House Armed Forces Committee, says this change makes sense. He says if someone decides to undergo a gender transformation surgery while enlisted, it could hinder their service to the military.

Most Louisiana residents approve of Donald Trump’s job performance, according to a recent Gallup poll. LSU political science professor Robert Hogan says that’s not surprising since the president won an overwhelming majority of the popular vote in the Bayou State. He says the poll shows that Louisiana voters like what the president is doing.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise remains in critical condition on Thursday night, after undergoing a second surgery on his internal injuries. That's according to MedStar Washington Hospital, where Scalise has been since he was shot in the hip. Doctors say the bullet injured internal organs, fractured bones and broke a bone in his leg, but they say his condition has improved in the last 24 hours.

President Donald Trump addressed the public after the attack this morning at a baseball practice that left multiple people injured, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, of Jefferson Parish. Among the other injured are two police officers, a staffer, and lobbyist. Trump commended the actions of the officers who stepped in to stop this brutal and deliberate attack.

President Donald Trump’s proposed budget released today would end oil lease royalty payments to Louisiana before they even begin. The proposal repeals the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act, which splits 35 percent of offshore revenue among several Gulf States. Louisiana Congressman Garret Graves calls the investigation into the connection between President Donald Trump and Russia during the election a total distraction. Former FBI Director Robert Mueller has been hired to look into claims that Mr. Trump and Russia somehow teamed up to help sway the vote in November. Graves says this is the 4th probe underway.
