Search is on for three escaped Avoyelles Parish inmates

The search is ongoing for three escaped Avoyelles Parish inmates. Sheriff Doug Anderson says 31-year-old Blake Reine, 23-year-old Joseph James, and 22-year-old Andre Steward escaped from a detention center near Bunkie on Saturday night.

Bunkie family arrested on bomb making charges

An entire family from Bunkie has been arrested on bomb making charges. Avoyelles Sheriff Doug Anderson says they executed a warrant on 38-year-old Jenus Juneau, who was accused of stealing $12,000 worth of household goods, guns, and jewelry on Sunday.

38 animals seized from filthy Bunkie home in Avoyelles Parish

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office along with the Human Society rescued 27 dogs and 11 cats from a filthy home in Bunkie. Sheriff Doug Anderson says in July, they received a call that animals were being neglected at the home of Maxine and Gordan Doughty, so they began an investigation.

Female fetus found in sewage pond

Authorities in Avoyelles Parish are investigating a human female fetus found at a sewage piping station. Sheriff Doug Anderson says city workers notified the Moreauville Police after discovering the fetus while working in a sewage pond.

Sheriff: Marksville officer accused in murder of 6-year-old not bonding out Thursday due to paperwork issue

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office says one of the Marksville officers involved in the shooting death of a 6-year-old boy won't be bonding out today because of a technical issue. It's reportedly due to a state law banning attorneys from bonding out defendants.

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s office says cops are searching for a woman being held on double homicide charges who escaped from prison over the weekend. Sheriff Doug Anderson says 25-year-old Melissa Hayes, who was arrested in February in Alexandria, busted a lock in the dorm of the Cottonport facility and went into the rec yard.

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office says a man shot and killed his 7-year-old daughter, then turned the gun on himself in an apparent murder/suicide. Sheriff Doug Anderson says they got a 911 call around 8:50pm Wednesday evening in reference to two bodies laying in a field in the Vick area.

Avoyelles Sheriff arrests former Evergreen Chief in wife's murder

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office arrests the former Evergreen Police Chief for the murder of his wife four months ago. Sheriff Doug Anderson says they got a 911 call on March 21st of this year from Charles Mayeaux Jr. advising that his house was on fire.
