State demanding more answers from feds regarding Syrian refugees in Louisiana

State Police Col Mike Edmonson says, in the wake of the terror attacks on Paris, they would like more information about the refugees of the Syrian civil war who are in Louisiana. The US State Department said 14 Syrian refugees had been resettled in the state this year.

New Iowa GOP presidential poll shows Jindal ahead of Bush and Fiorina

A new Public Policy Poll on the Republican Presidential nomination shows Governor Bobby Jindal is now ahead of Florida Governor Jeb Bush and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina in Iowa. The PPP survey puts Jindal's numbers in Iowa at 6%, which ties him for fifth with Mike Huckabee and puts him a point ahead of Bush and Fiorina.

Higher ed seeks sustainable funding in future budgets

Higher education leaders are appreciative lawmakers in the just completed legislative session found enough funding to prevent deep budget cuts to public universities and colleges. But Higher Education Commissioner Joe Rallo says long-term funding for colleges is still not guaranteed.

The state senate approves legislation that prohibits State Police from paying trooper security costs for when Governor Bobby Jindal's travels for campaign purposes. The head of the state democratic party, New Orleans Senator Karen Peterson says State Police has spent over two-million dollars this year for Jindal's in-state and out-of-state trips.

The Onion, a satirical news website, recently wrote an article skewering Governor Bobby Jindal that's getting national attention.  The fictitious article claimed that Jindal's presidential campaign would last about two months before he pulled out of the race.

Governor Jindal heads back to Iowa

Although he has yet to declare his intent to run for President in 2016, Governor Bobby Jindal returns to Iowa today.  The Iowa is a key Presidential primary state. Jindal will headline the Polk County Republican Winter Victory Dinner in West Des Moines Tuesday night.  
 
"There will be probably in the neighborhood of 150 central Iowans who will meet him at this event for the Polk County GOP," said Radio Iowa news director Kay Henderson.

Jindal calls for increased military funding during DC speech

Governor Jindal laid out his concept for rebuilding US military strength during a speech today in Washington, D.C.  Jindal spoke at the American Enterprise Institute.  He says we must take steps to rebuild America's military.
