Grambling State University is one step closer to reinstating their undergraduate nursing program. The undergraduate program was closed in December of 2015, and officials have been working to get a new program instated. University President Rick Gallot says they have the support of the University of Louisiana System Board, but he says their work is far from over.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors has chosen former state legislator and attorney Rick Gallot as the new president at Grambling State. Gallot says the connections he made as a legislator could help the university tremendously.

The Grambling State Presidential search has been narrowed to 5 candidates who begin public interviews today. University spokeswoman Tracy Wright says interviewing today are Dr. Wayne Brumfield, Dr. Gilbert L. Rochon, and Dr. Thomas Calhoun. She says tomorrow will be Dr. Willie Larkin and Dr. Glenda Carter.

The state's budget woes are causing difficulties in the search for a new president for Grambling State University. Possible job applicants are apparently worried about the state's potential budget cuts to higher education.

The faculty senate at Grambling State University has given a "no confidence" vote for interim president Cynthia Warrick. GSU faculty Senate President, Dr. Herbert Simmons Jr, says they are disappointed Warrick hired several administrators at a six-figure salary, when the university faces a 3.7 million dollar deficit.

Starting today, the Presidential search committees for Northwestern State University and Grambling State University will each meet on their respective campuses. University of Louisiana System President Sandra Woodley says the most important of these initial gatherings is the public hearing.

|Since the Grambling State Football team decided not to show up to its game on Saturday, their opponent Jackson State says it plans to sue. The Mississippi university claims the cancellation of the game cost them millions of direct and indirect dollars. Loyola law professor Dane Ciolino says Jackson State leaders have a valid case.|

The University of Louisiana System Board plans a conprehensive review of Grambling State University. UL System President Sandra Woodley says Grambling's president, Dr. Frank Pogue called for the studty at the system board's regular meeting Tuesday.
