The suspect in the high profile Grambling State University double murder has hired a defense team to argue his innocence. Attorneys Ronald Haley and Dedrick Moore would not reveal 19-year-old Jaylin Wayne’s side of the story, but said the focus should switch to the environment at Grambling.

Audit reveals money improperly added to student accounts at Grambling

An investigative audit accuses three former cashiers at Grambling State University improperly added over 164-thousand-dollars to G-Flex accounts that were used by 35 students and two of the former cashiers. State Auditor, Roger Harris says the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s office was notified by the school in February once they discovered a problem.

Grambling State University President Rick Gallot says they are beefing up security, after a gunman killed two 23-year-old men from Farmerville after an altercation in a dorm room. Gallot says he spoke with Governor John Bel Edwards, who offered Grambling additional resources for the upcoming homecoming weekend.

Two men are dead on Grambling State University’s campus following an incident early this morning, and so far no motive or suspect has been identified. Officials believe the deadly shooting may have sparked from some sort of dispute, that continued between two dorm buildings.

Grambling one step closer to reinstating undergrad nursing program

Grambling State University is one step closer to reinstating their undergraduate nursing program. The undergraduate program was closed in December of 2015, and officials have been working to get a new program instated. University President Rick Gallot says they have the support of the University of Louisiana System Board, but he says their work is far from over.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors has chosen former state legislator and attorney Rick Gallot as the new president at Grambling State. Gallot says the connections he made as a legislator could help the university tremendously.

5 Grambling semi-final presidential interviews begin today

The Grambling State Presidential search has been narrowed to 5 candidates who begin public interviews today. University spokeswoman Tracy Wright says interviewing today are Dr. Wayne Brumfield, Dr. Gilbert L. Rochon, and Dr. Thomas Calhoun. She says tomorrow will be Dr. Willie Larkin and Dr. Glenda Carter.

State budget problems hampering search for Grambling president

The faculty senate at Grambling State University has given a "no confidence" vote for interim president Cynthia Warrick. GSU faculty Senate President, Dr. Herbert Simmons Jr, says they are disappointed Warrick hired several administrators at a six-figure salary, when the university faces a 3.7 million dollar deficit.
