Rayne man with history of DWI arrests charged in fatal hit and run

A Rayne man, with a history of DWI arrests, is behind bars after police say he hit a man on a bicycle while driving intoxicated. Acadia Parish Sheriff K. P. Gibson says 61-year-old Ricky Joyner of Rayne was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver, 42-year-old Ivy Roger, was nowhere to be found.

State Police are searching for a driver who hit and injured a trooper when his patrol car was stopped at a Baton Rouge intersection. Trooper Bryan Lee says the collision happened at about 3 p.m. yesterday when traffic was stopped on Old Hammond Hwy and the suspect immediately fled the scene.

Skateboarder killed in two-vehicle hit and run in Hammond

State police are looking for two vehicles involved in a fatal hit and run that took the life of a skateboarder in Hammond. Trooper Dustin Dwight says 26-year-old Erin Gerhard was skateboarding down the right side of University Avenue near SLU’s campus around 10pm last night when he was hit by two different vehicles.

The family of the man who died on New Years after being run over in New Orleans and dragged through the French Quarter for 6 miles, is desperate to find out who is responsible. 28-year-old Josh Woodruff was hailing an Uber around 3am January 1st when he was struck by a four door black sedan and dragged away.

LSP: 18-wheeler goes over guardrail in fatal hit and run

State Police is investigating a fatal hit and run crash that forced an 18-wheeler over the guardrail on I-10 West into the Pearl River near the Louisiana-Mississippi line. State Police Sgt. Nick Manale says three vehicles are thought to be involved in Tuesday night’s crash, two big rigs and a black pickup truck, which fled the scene.

Reward offered for St. Rose hit and run driver

Louisiana State Police is offering a $2500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for allegedly running over and killing a pedestrian in St. Rose on Thanksgiving morning. Spokeswoman Melissa Matey says the crash took place on La 626 in St. Charles Parish.

Troopers search for driver in fatal hit and run

State Police are searching for a vehicle that struck and killed a bicyclist in Lafayette Parish. The hit and run occurred on LA 92 at Mermentau Road just east of Milton yesterday morning. Master Trooper Brooks David says as of now, they have no information on who hit 30-year-old Lon Lomas of Youngsville.

The attorney for Livingston Parish School board President Malcolm Sibley who was arrested on a hit and run charge Sunday says his client is remorseful. Sibley was involved in an accident in which a 21-year-old man from Mississippi was killed. His lawyer, Sherman Mack, says his client is extremely upset about the incident, "If Mr. Sibley could snap his fingers and make this all go away, believe me he would."
