A phone survey on hurricane preparedness is being conducted by LSU, and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is urging residents of southeast Louisiana to participate. Mike Steele with GOHSEP says participants will be asked about their evacuation plans in case of a hurricane.

The Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Danny in the Atlantic as it moves toward the Caribbean. GOHSEP Director Kevin Davis says the storm is expected to reach hurricane strength later this week.

State officials want you to take time this week preparing for the upcoming hurricane season. Governor Bobby Jindal has declared it, Hurricane Preparedness Week, and Chris Guilbeaux, a deputy director at the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness says visiting Getagamplan.org is a good first step.
