Veterans cemetery to be built in Jennings

The VA has awarded Louisiana a 7.2 million dollar grant to building a new veterans cemetery in Jennings that’s set to break ground November 1st. Louisiana VA Secretary Joey Strickland says currently, Southwest Louisiana families have to drive at least 80 miles to find the nearest veterans cemetery.

Jennings woman allegedly lied about how 4-year-old niece was set on fire

A Jennings woman is facing additional charges for allegedly lying about how her 4-year-old niece was set on fire. State Fire Marshal's office spokesman Brant Thompson says 29-year-old Gail Brown is accused of having sex for money at a home while her 6-year-old daughter and the 4-year-old niece were in a vehicle.

DNA testing solves 1982 missing person case

A Jennings woman, with the help of DNA testing and technology, has been able to find information about her mother was who had not been seen in Louisiana since 1982.  Katherine Renee Kratzer filed a missing persons report on her mother, Leejan Marie Kratzer, last year.

Jennings man accused of beating/holding girlfriend, 17, captive with child in the house

The Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office says they've arrested a man who is accused of keeping his 17-year-old girlfriend captive in a home also occupied by his 7-year-old child.

Jennings man arrested accused of raping three young girls

Jennings Police have arrested a 66-year-old man accused of raping three girls, all under the age of 10.  Deputy Chief Danny Semmes says their investigation began when a government agency informed them of suspicious activity regarding Clarence Bouley of Jennings being in the presence of some young children.

Jennings welcome home hero officer

The community of Jennings got together in a big way on Wednesday to welcome home an officer who was shot in the line of duty and has been in recovery since the June incident. Jennings Police Chief Todd D'Albor says Sergeant Ricky Benoit was responding to a domestic violence call when he was shot in the neck by the suspect.
