Governor John Bel Edwards addressed two controversies involving former members of his administration. A legislative audit accuses former State Police Superintendent Mike Edmonson of abusing his power and possible illegal activity, but Edwards defends his living arrangement at state police headquarters…

"I told him to stay at the residence because that's the best place for him to be if he's going to command the state police," Edwards said.

Legislative audit reveals possible wrongdoing by former LSP Superintendent

The state legislative auditor releases findings that point to possible misuse of state dollars and abuse of power by the former Superintendent of State Police Mike Edmonson. During a meeting of the legislative audit advisory council, an auditor who worked on the report gave an example of how Edmonson allegedly used public resources to run errands for his family.

Col. Mike Edmonson's scrutiny heightens

Col. Mike Edmonson is under public scrutiny for how he spent tax payer money during his time as the leader of state police. Governor John Bel Edwards says the investigation continues and the legislative auditor has released a preliminary report.

“It’s that report that’s generating the questions. I’m not going to comment on it because I expect it’s going to be changed to some degree and I happen to believe it should be changed to some degree,” Edwards said.

Report: Former LSP leader knew of controversial side trip by troopers to Vegas

A newly released 300-page State Police report provided to the Advocate, shows former LSP Superintendent Mike Edmonson allegedly knew about side trips several troopers took on their way to a conference in San Diego last year. President of the Metropolitan Crime Commission Rafael Goyeneche says Edmonson asked for an internal investigation only after the media became involved.

State law limits search of new LSP superintendent

The head of State Police, Col. Mike Edmonson retires this week, but a state law narrows the search for his permanent replacement. A statute requires the next superintendent to be a commissioned State Police officer who graduated from the LSP academy. But President of the Metropolitan Crime Coalition Rafael Goyeneche says a nationwide search should be conducted.

Former member of State Police Commission calls for Col. Edmonson's resignation
