Benefit being held today for Cpl. Burt Hazeltine

St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office Cpl. Burt Hazeltine has been released from the hospital and the sheriff's office will host a benefit lunch/dinner for him today in Destrehan.  Hazeltine was shot last week while directing traffic in a school zone in Paradis.

St. Charles Deputy shot multiple times in apparent ambush

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's office says a deputy directing traffic at a school crossing in Paradis was shot multiple times in an apparent ambush. Captain Pat Yoes says the victim was helping buses make their way off of Highway 90 around 8:50 Thursday morning when the incident took place.
 
The deputy is identified as 36-year-old Corporal Burt Hazeltine, a married father of four.

Three-year-old killed in accident involving dump truck

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's office says a three-year-old was killed in St. Rose when he was hit by a dump truck. Captain Pat Yoes says the tragic accident occurred yesterday afternoon as the 40-year-old driver of the dump truck was backing into a parking spot.
