The Republican Party in Louisiana is so sure Donald Trump has locked up the votes here, they are sending its volunteers to Florida -- a battleground which accounts for 29 electoral votes. Party chair Roger Villere says it's part of a nationwide effort among GOP members to go door to door in the Sunshine State.

Talk of uncommitted delegates choosing Ted Cruz instead of Donald Trump for president is not true according to one of the members who said he has yet to make up his mind. Trump is trying to decry the system because even though he won the primary here, Cruz could end up with more delegates.

Former state lawmaker and ex Klu Klux Klansman David Duke is part of the storyline in the Republican presidential race. Duke supports Donald Trump and Trump’s opponents are bashing him for declining to disavow Duke’s endorsement during a CNN interview. Duke says the media is making a big deal out of this, because of his connection with the KKK, a group that he says he left in the 1970s.

A new Public Policy Poll on the Republican Presidential nomination shows Governor Bobby Jindal is now ahead of Florida Governor Jeb Bush and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina in Iowa. The PPP survey puts Jindal's numbers in Iowa at 6%, which ties him for fifth with Mike Huckabee and puts him a point ahead of Bush and Fiorina.

A recent Fox News poll on the Republican presidential field shows Governor Bobby Jindal polling at less than one-percent. UL-Lafayette Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says this is obviously not good news for Jindal.

According to financial reports filed Wednesday by federal regulators, Governor Bobby Jindal raised about $579,000 in his first week as a Republican presidential candidate. ULM Political Science Professor Joshua Stockley says this is not a very strong first step for the governor.

A recent CNN presidential poll shows that Governor Bobby Jindal's popularity has risen since he formally announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination. The survey, conducted between June 26 and June 28, shows the governor going from one-percent to two-percent.
