Thursday is University of Louisiana System President Sandra Woodley's last day on the job.  Woodley announced her resignation last month.

Former Louisiana Tech president Dan Reneau has been named interim president of the University of Louisiana System. Reneau will serve as president until the board finds a permanent replacement for Sandra Woodley, who is resigning as president at the end of the year. Reneau served as president of Louisiana Tech for 26 years before retiring in 2013…:

State budget problems hampering search for Grambling president

The state's budget woes are causing difficulties in the search for a new president for Grambling State University.  Possible job applicants are apparently worried about the state's potential budget cuts to higher education.

Legislative and university leaders plan to fight any significant cut to higher ed

House Speaker Chuck Kleckley says he'll fight any plan that would significantly reduce funding for higher education. A spokeswoman for the Jindal Administration says a 200 to 300 million dollar cut in funding to higher ed is being considered for the fiscal year budget that starts July 1st. But Kleckley says he's not having any of it.

NSU/GSU Search Comittees meet starting today

Starting today, the Presidential search committees for Northwestern State University and Grambling State University will each meet on their respective campuses. University of Louisiana System President Sandra Woodley says the most important of these initial gatherings is the public hearing.

Study finds only 3 out of 10 adults in Louisiana have a college degree

According to a report based on 2012 Census data, Louisiana ranked 49th in the nation for lowest percentage of people who graduate from college. The document from the Lumina Foundation indicated The Bayou State graduates only 29% of the population.

College leaders pleased over plans to increase higher ed funding

Higher education leaders are pleased to hear Governor Jindal is proposing to increase state funding for Louisiana's colleges and universities. Jindal's proposed budget for next fiscal year will contain a 142-million dollar funding increase to higher ed. LSU System President F. UL-Lafayette name controversy blowing up

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has been the subject of some controversy this week regarding the way it chooses to refer to itself. The school says it's not trying to change its name, but State Senator Francis Thompson of Delhi is one of many who doesn't think it's right for UL-Lafayette to simply have "Louisiana" on its jerseys.
