Lafourche Parish man in custody after standoff with police

A three hour standoff between authorities and an armed man on a boat in Larose ended early this afternoon. Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Brennan Matherne says police responded to a call by a boat owner alerting them that an armed man, who didn’t have permission, was aboard a boat docked along the Intracoastal Canal.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's office says a man held his family hostage Sunday, threatened to kill them then turned the gun on himself in a standoff with deputies. Spokeswoman Casey Hicks says 53-year-old Jerry Foster had been arguing with his wife yesterday morning, when he took her to a relative's house at gunpoint.
