Tomorrow voters head to the polls to cast their ballots, but there hasn’t been much publicity for the statewide election of a new Secretary of State. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat said the stressed importance of this Election Day for other issues on the ballot has resulted in more people casting votes in the special election for the statewide seat.
“It’s really helped Secretary of State candidates get more turnout than they would have gotten from their ads. They don’t have a lot of money, so this is good news for them,”said Pinsonat.
Pinsonat said many voters may be undecided when it comes to the Secretary of State’s race due to a lack of campaign funding for the candidates.
“Voters don’t know who they are and they and they haven’t made up their mind and it’s mainly due to a lack of knowledge about the candidates,” said Pinsonat.
Pinsonat said the lack of knowledge of the candidates doesn’t really benefit any candidate and the outcome is a toss-up
“It could mean that it helps Kyle Ardoin since he is the incumbent. It may help the Democrat, especially with the street activity and the get out the vote in the black communities,” said Pinsonat.
