Google’s annual Year in Search report shows Louisianans searched most for soccer, LSU football and hurricanes. Google Technology Expert Molly Vandenburg says the number one search in the Bayou State was a little surprising.
“The number one trending topic was the World Cup, which I found a little bit surprising, because the U.S. did not participate,” said Vandenburg.
Vandenburg says the global event was not the only sport trending in Louisiana searches.
“The Louisiana State University football schedule as well as the Pelicans were definitely trendy items,” said Vandenburg.
She says even though Louisiana dodged the two major hurricanes that hit the U.S. coastline in 2018, it was still of great interest to Bayou State residents.
“As people track those sorts of storms and events toward are coast, we definitely see interest that people want to make sure they have the most up to date information,” said Vandenburg.
