This week marks the busiest week for the United States Postal Service. USPS spokesperson Sean O’Neill said while some deadlines may have already passed to ensure delivery by Christmas, there are still two days coming up that those shipping gifts this holiday season need to keep on their radar.
“First class mail and priority mail should be mailed by Thursday, the 20th. And then the last day for all those stragglers out there would be December 22nd, and that’d be the last day for priority mail express,” said O’Neill.
O’Neill said for those in a rush, to drop items off at the post office, he recommends using the “click and ship” service on USPS.com to pay for postage ahead of time.
“You just print up your postage label there at home You can skip the lines and just drop it off at the counter. Done and done,” said O’Neill.
O’Neill said for those leaving town, to ensure the packages you are receiving are in good care and not just left to fend for themselves at your doorstep, USPS has holding services that are quick and simple.
“Do a vacation hold, just for a couple of days. It takes two seconds and it’s very easy to do. You can use hold for pickup. I suggest people sign up for informed deliveries so you can always know what’s coming to you,” said O’Neill.
