The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office arrests an Arnaudville woman accused of stealing graveside flowers from a Cecilia cemetery and then selling them online. Following a complaint, deputies identified and located 42-year-old Rhonda Lagrange. Major Ginny Higgins says a warrant allowed deputies to search the suspect’s home
“They discovered she had several silk flowers, floral arrangements, statues, and vases. It was quite a few things she had taken,” said Higgins.
It appears Lagrange would flip the stolen goods on social media.
“Apparently via her Facebook page, she would sell arrangements. If you looked at some of the posts, it was basically she would offer to make and sell things,” said Higgins.
Higgins said the investigation continues, as their agency received reports of thefts dating back to December. She adds that investigators are asking anyone who may have experienced things missing from a cemetery to step forward and notify authorities.
“From this story, several more people have contacted us. And the thing is, there seemed to be a lot of talk among other people, but only a few people actually reported it,” said Higgins
