Entergy Louisiana has gotten the green light from the Public Service Commission for a 20-year agreement to buy the output of a 50-megawatt solar power plant that is soon to be built by a subsidiary of Eagle Solar Group. Entergy spokesperson Lee Sabatini says it’s one of the largest solar facilities planned for the state.
“About 560 acres of land in West Baton Rouge will soon be harnessing energy from the sun to deliver clean energy to our customers,” said Sabatini.
Sabatini said construction on the land near Port Allen is expected to begin in mid-2019, with completion in 2020.
“While the solar power plant is being built, there will be about 350 construction jobs that come into the area,” said Sabatini.
Sabatini said the agreement is part of the company’s commitment to bringing green, reliable energy to customers.
“We’re going to offset nearly 19,000 passenger vehicle emissions in one year. Its as if we took 19,000 cars off the road. That’s the equivalent of the green energy that is coming from this power plant,” said Sabatini.
