Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger reports LSU and Will Wade are working toward a meeting that could lead to the reinstatement of the suspended head coach. Dellenger says Wade has a new attorney, Steven Thompson, and he’s had positive discussions with LSU…
“His past attorney did not want him to talk to LSU and I think Stephen Thompson is more open to it and they are working toward setting up a meeting.”
Thompson also represents two other coaches impacted by the F-B-I’s investigation into college basketball corruption. LSU will not reinstate Wade until he meets with Atheltic Director Joe Alleva and answers questions about possible NCAA rule violations caught on a purported FBI wiretap. Dellenger says Wade’s new attorney could make that meeting possible…
“You know you start talking and one thing leads to another and hey things get smoothed out. This is certainly a positive step, and a small step.”
Dellenger says a meeting between Wade and Alleva does not guarantee that the suspended head coach gets his job back…
“It is not going to be like he is all of a sudden reinstated. He has got to cooperate and cooperate for several weeks, you know as long as this goes through, as long as this investigation is open.”
