Governor John Bel Edwards is co-hosting a cybersecurity summit Tuesday and Wednesday in Shreveport. It’s in conjunction with the National Governor’s Association. The governor’s chief of staff Mark Cooper says the conference will feature experts who will instruct states on how to protect themselves against cyber threats.
“Probably close to 400 people will be there, normally their attendance is around 250,” said Cooper. “There will be a cross section of private sector, governmental, not only that we are going to get a lot of media coverage from technology companies.”
The two-day summit will also have seminars on training the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
Cooper hopes the event can help create a booming cybersecurity industry in northwest Louisiana.
“With the talent pipeline for Louisiana Tech, Grambling also has a new cyber program, so that’s also part of that cyber corridor that we are talking about. We will cyber industry growing there, new businesses popping up,” said Cooper.
