A five-year-old was found with a bag of cocaine and two bags of crack at a Slidell school yesterday and now two adults are under arrest as a result.
Detective Daniel Seuzeneau says a teacher spotted the kid with a bag of white powder and called a resource officer over to investigate. That’s when they discovered the Kindergartner was holding narcotics. He says it’s clear the child was innocent. “This child had absolutely no idea that this was in their pocket, or what it was, no clue.”
Police then searched the child’s home and discovered additional narcotics at the scene, narcotics that were being hidden in the children’s clothing. Seuzeneau says there’s only one theory as to why. “They were in fear of the police coming to their house at some point, and they thought the last place the police would look was in the pants pocket of their child.”
51-year-old Ellis Cousin and 23-year-old Angelica Stanley were arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute, Paraphernalia, and Cruelty to a Juvenile.
The office says they have taken steps to ensure the child’s wellbeing, and Suezeneau says thankfully no one was exposed to the bag’s contents.
“Luckily the child and no other children were exposed to the narcotic. It could have been a lot worse obviously if it wasn’t for the quick-acting teacher and the officer that was at the school.”
