House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announces she’s opening an impeachment inquiry into the President’s alleged attempts to pressure Ukraine into investigating Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s son.
U.S. Senator John Kennedy says we’ll find out more about the allegations Wednesday, but no result may satisfy a wing of the Democratic party that desperately wants impeachment.
“Some of our Democratic friends, they are just plain unhappy that the American people chose Donald Trump to be the President of the United States,” said Kennedy. “They’ve been throwing a tantrum for two and a half years.”
The Trump Administration says they will release a transcript of the conversation with the President of Ukraine that sparked the allegations.
Kennedy says he expects an investigation to be opened into Hunter Biden’s dealings in Ukraine. He says Biden was paid 600,000 dollars to sit on the board of a Ukrainian oligarch’s gas company.
“Maybe the Ukrainian oligarch got Hunter Biden’s name off of ZipRecruiter, but I kind of doubt it.”
Kennedy also alleges that Biden’s law firm received substantial payments from the oligarch as well.
The state’s junior Senator says there’s been a lot of hubbub about Pelosi’s announcement, but ultimately, she did not say the President is being impeached.
“What she really said was we are going to continue investigating the President and see if we can find something to impeach him on. Uh, they’ve been doing it for a year and a half,” said Kennedy.
New Orleans Congressman Cedric Richmond is the only member of the Louisiana Delegation who currently supports impeachment.
