LSU Superfan Colton Moore suffers from Spina Bifida and lives in Alabama, but the 9-year-old is getting the chance to meet his idol, Coach Ed Orgeron. Colton’s mother Jennifer Moore never dreamed this would happen. A photo of Colton reached the athletic department and an invite was sent. LSU fans responded as well.
“Coach O’s special assistant said he had received over received over a thousand emails on the first day and that just blows me away,” says Jennifer Moore.
Colton’s family are Auburn fans, but Colton fell in love with LSU at the 2017 SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover, Alabama. The team made such an impression on him and his mom says from then on Conton’s focus became LSU.
“Any football game, he would have to watch and he just fell in love with Coach O and anything LSU,” says Moore.
Colton lives in Odenville where Auburn and Alabama fans are extremely passionate. Ironically Colton is not alone with his purple and gold pride, his third-grade teacher Casey Burnham is a 2005 graduate along with his pediatrician. Moore also believes Colton is rubbing off on his classmates.
“I think a lot of them because they love him so much, I’m sure some of them go home and say Geaux Tigers and Geaux LSU, just because Colton gets them to say it at school,” says Moore. As for the LSU she’s overwhelmed with all the support they’ve shown Colton. “To see this type of outpouring of love it’s just been special, really special.”
Colton will tour the football operations building on Friday and meet his idol Coach O. “I’ll ask him what do you think he’s going to say and he’ll do his Coach O voice and say ‘Hey Colton I’m Coach O’,” says Moore. Colton will participate in the Tiger Walk on Saturday morning and attend the Utah State game with his parents.
We asked how they plan to handle things in a few weeks during the Auburn-LSU game. “Either way somebody in our house is going to be really excited,” says Moore.
