Unseasonable cold temperatures are on the way from a front that hits the state Monday afternoon. National Weather Service Meteorologist Patrick Omundson says the front will bring a little rain and strong winds. He says a wind advisory is in effect for the northern half of the state from tonight until Tuesday morning.
“We may have frequent gusts even over 40 miles per hour, so those winds will still be going good by sunrise, it will be strongest in the evening,” said Omundson.
Omundson says temperatures will be below freezing along the I-20 corridor and we’ll see some upper 20s near the Arkansas border.
“With the temperatures falling around freezing tonight and those kind of winds, we could get down into the teens at some places for wind chills,” said Omundson.
The coldest night is tomorrow night as temps will fall into the mid-20s in south Lousiana on Wednesday morning. Omundson says it will be warm today, but rest of the week will be cold.
“For at least for north Louisiana, we could see temperatures not breaking 60 until at least later in the weekend,” said Omundson.
