Northwest Louisiana was a battleground in the race for the Governor’s mansion on Thursday. During a rally at the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City, President Trump told the crowd, Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards is controlled by, as he puts it, the extremists pushing the impeachment witch hunt.
“He’s a tool… of Nancy. He’s a tool… of Chuck. He’s probably even a tool of that guy, Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff,” said the President.
President Trump’s appearance marks the third visit to the state to support GOP challenger Eddie Rispone. Governor Edwards said in a visit to the area earlier in the day that he feels Louisiana voters see right through his competition’s use of prominent national figures on the campaign trail.
“They’re going to decide it on Louisiana issues, and they know that we are better off. They don’t need the President, they don’t need anybody else telling them one way or another,” said the Governor.
President Trump also praised GOP primary challenger Congressman Ralph Abraham, who flew in with the President on Air Force One to throw his support behind Rispone.
“We are not going to be fooled again, Mr. President. Go out and vote Saturday. Go vote for Eddie,” said Abraham.
Governor Edwards says Rispone does not have a plan for the state, which is why he’s reverting to the use of DC politicians.
“I’m encouraging people all across the state of Louisiana to get to know the candidates and their positions on the issues and cast an informed ballot. And when they do that, there is only one way they can vote, and that’s Number 4 for four more years,” said Edwards.
