It was three years ago today that LSU announced Ed Orgeron would be the next head coach of the Fighting Tigers. Who would have thought three years later, LSU would be ranked number one? Football analyst Mike Detillier says Coach O did.
“He sort of laid out his vision to me on what he wanted to do at LSU and he felt that in a three-year timeframe, this team could play for the SEC championship and play for the national championship.”
There were many who were skeptical Orgeron would lead LSU back to the SEC Championship game. But Detillier says Coach O knew that if they opened up the offense and got a great quarterback it could happen. He says bringing Joe Burrow on was critical.
“He was able to take this program to another level. That’s what great players do.”
Detillier says Burrow’s record-breaking season will attract other great quarterbacks and skill position players to LSU, which should help the program remain as one of the best in the country
“People from outside of Louisiana, in California, in Virginia, in Maryland, Washington D.C., Georgia, you know? They’re wanting to come to LSU to play.”
LSU looks to complete a perfect regular season on Saturday when they host Texas A-and-M.
