A Brookhaven, Mississippi man is $1.2 million richer after purchasing a jackpot-winning Louisiana Lotto ticket at a Circle K store in Kentwood. Lottery spokesperson Dustin Annison says it is not every day that someone line 72-year-old Darryl Jordan comes in and claims such a large prize.
“He was very excited, this was the second-largest lotto jackpot of this year,” said Annison.
Jordan won the prize during the Wednesday night drawing. Mississippi now has its own lottery, but Annison says that won’t keep Jordan from playing in Louisiana as he has done for years.
“He plans to continue to do so. Even though he can buy certain games there, this is a game that is unique to Louisiana and he enjoys it so he says he continues to play it,” said Annison.
Annison says Jordan already has plans for his winnings.
“He plans on building himself a nice new home where he lives, so we wish him luck with his big win,” said Annison.
