A 26-year-old Sulphur man is facing up to 15 years in prison for allegedly skateboarding down the I-210 Bridge just outside Lake Charles, and getting an accomplice to film it and put it on Facebook.
State Police Trooper Derek Senegal says his office was alerted to the viral video that shows Louis McGlone doing tricks as he sped down the iconic bridge. Senegal isn’t sure what was going through his head.
“It’s a beautiful bridge and I guess this guy said, hey I’m going to skateboard down 210, and got up at the top and wanted to skateboard down and make a video out of it,” says Senegal.
McGlone is in a tough spot for the alleged stunt, and so is 34-year-old Lindsey Hulett of Lake Charles, who Senegal says was right behind him as he sped down the bridge that overlooks a number of local casinos.
“As he was skateboarding down the I-210 Bridge, she was behind him filming it as he did the incident,” says Senegal.
Senegal says the two have been charged with Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce because the stunt endangered both their lives and the lives of nearby drivers.
“Of course it is dangerous for you and the other drivers, it’s against the law, you just can’t do that kind of stuff,” says Senegal.
