50-year-old Felicia Payne of Alexandria is behind bars for the holidays after allegedly drunk driving into the State Police Troop E building.
State Police Master Trooper Scott Moreau says thankfully Payne didn’t hurt anyone after crashing into the office, but she did cause extensive damage.
“The impact caused significant damage to the exterior wall and to interior offices, and Troopers at Troop B placed Payne under arrest after she submitted a breath sample,” says Moreau.
Moreau says it was a real shock for troopers to have a drunk driver plow into their office at 5 AM, but it is a reminder that everyone is impacted by impaired drivers, even those behind thick walls.
“that just goes to show you that nobody is immune from the consequences of people driving impaired, and it’s something that we have to all take a stand on and not tolerate,” says Moreau.
Moreau says there’s no excuse to drive drunk this holiday season, and this incident is a good reminder to get yourself a DD or Uber if you’re planning to drink tomorrow night.
“We just have to take a stance against it and not tolerate, have a designated driver, a sober driver, particularly with New Year’s Eve coming up tomorrow,” says
While the arrest was made by State Police, the investigation is being handled by Alexandria Police.
