About 300 LSU fans were at the LSU Football Operations Building to welcome home the national champion Tigers. Their charter buses rolled back into town around lunchtime.
Many fans lined up hours ahead of time to get a good view of the team as they made their way back to the Capital from the Crescent City. This mom says her son just couldn’t wait to get out there.
“All morning long, he’s been driving me up the wall ‘hurry up, let’s go, let’s go we are going to miss them,’ so we are excited about it.”
Safety Grant Delpit says he knows people in Louisiana will talk about this team for years to come.
“We’ll be talking about us to, one day they’ll call us back to the 50-yard line to wave to the crowd, I’m looking forward to those days,” said Delpit.
LSU is preparing for a much larger celebration to take place Saturday as a parade is set to role through LSU’s campus beginning at 11 AM. A national championship celebration will begin at noon outside the west side of Tiger Stadium.
