Advanced Aero Services announces the launch of its maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in Shreveport that is expected to create 60 direct jobs by 2021. AAS President Mike Anderson says he looked at various sites across the country before settling on Shreveport for meeting all the criteria he was looking for.
“The ability to build a labor force, close location to commercial airline hubs, a good business location, good cost control, and so forth that I can achieve in this area as well, so all those things played a factor,” said Anderson.
Anderson says the operations will start in a hangar that will accommodate regional jet aircraft, but growth is on the horizon.
“Immediately after we get this thing up and running we are going to switch gears and start developing the plan as well as the financing to build a large hangar which can accommodate large commercial transport type aircraft,” said Anderson.
Anderson says the forecasted growth could result in the company employing 1000 people by the sixth year of operation.
“There is a large growth coming over the next ten years of almost 19 percent growth in air carrier type aircraft so we expect to be able to cash in on that,” said Anderson.
