A Calhoun man is booked into the Ouachita Correctional Facility on a drug charge after he approached two people asking to borrow guns at a Planet Fitness parking lot in West Monroe. West Monroe Police Major David May says the two declined the request of 19-year-old Landon Duke before going into the gym and calling the police.
“After he had seen some handguns in the front of their truck, Duke asked those guys if he could use their firearms to rob someone,” said May.
May says it is unclear why the Duke thought it was a good pitch, but Duke told the two why he needed the money.
“He stated that he needed to try to get some money to go out of town
May says Duke caught the drug charge when he consented to a search. The two subjects later contacted police. We located Duke and his vehicle in the parking lot of a convenience store which was right down the road,” said May.
“One of the officers located a $100 bill in his pants pocket which contained a hard substance. Landon admitted that that money contained methamphetamine,” said May.
Duke faces one count of possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance.
