The LSU men’s basketball team finished out the regular season on Saturday with one of its more compete performances this season as they crushed the Georgia Bulldogs 94-64 on Senior Day.
The Tigers two senior starters played really well. Marlon Taylor scored a career-high 30 points, while Skylar Mays had 19 points. Senior Marshall Graves also got the start and had five points. He hit one three-pointer and it came with 44-seconds left. That’s significant because 44 was the number worn by former LSU Tiger Wayde Sims, who was fatally shot prior to the 2018-19 season. Sims’ untimely death led to Graves receiving a scholarship for his final year and a half at LSU.
LSU finishes the regular season with a 21-10 record, 12–6 in the SEC. The Tigers are tied for second place in the SEC with Auburn. But Auburn owns the tie breaker, so LSU will be the third-seed in the SEC Tournament and play the late game on Friday night.
The U-L Lafayette Ragin Cajuns defeated Arkansas State 73-66 in an opening round Sun Belt Tournament game. Mylik Wilson had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Junior Forward Jalen Johnson had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Cajuns advance to the second round of the Sun Belt Tournament as they’ll play 5th seeded Georgia Southern on Monday night in Statesboro, Georgia.
