Many people are finding ways to work from home in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Tech Gumbo host Haggai Davis says the internet infrastructure is there to handle the influx of web traffic to get the work done, but other hurdles remain.
“Do the employees have the equipment to be able to remotely work? Does the business have the processes and procedures in place to allow their employees to actually remote into the network,” said Davis.
Davis believes a lot more people are going to become more comfortable with working from home as it is becoming an easier process.
“Over the past ten years or so, the work from home thing has really taken off and so a lot of people were already set up to handle this capability,” said Davis.
Davis says in order to work from home, some structure needs to be put into place like setting a work schedule and designating a work area.
“Do things like collaboration using Microsoft Teams or Slack or something so you are socializing with your colleagues and basically you have to treat work from home like you are working from the office, just it is a different office now,” said Davis.
