Business owners are feeling the pressure of the halted economy. Oil City Republican Rep. Danny McCormick feels that businesses need to open sooner than later. McCormick says small business owners have reached out to him indicating the state absolutely must start to get back to normal by May 1st.
“The original goal was to flatten the curve and protect our most vulnerable citizens but now we seem to be paralyzed by fear. Our goal has been transformed from a common-sense approach to a government overreach approach,” said McCormick.
McCormick says he is planning around small businesses reopening by May 1st as he believes they are a vital contributor to the state’s economy.
“Small business owners are the backbone of our economy and we’re forcing them into a position of choosing between bankruptcy and non-compliance. You know, this is America, man. We can’t be doing that. We have to do something,” said McCormick.
McCormick says the economic recovery has to start soon and it can be done with the public health’s best interests in mind.
“Somewhere along the line, we determined that social distancing was an option for our grocery stores, but not for our churches and businesses. I don’t understand the logic we are following,” said McCormick.
