Governor John Bel Edwards declares a state of emergency in response to Sunday’s severe weather outbreak that damaged an estimated 200 to 300 homes in the Monroe area. 30-million dollars in damage has reportedly been done to planes at the Monroe Regional Airport, which is closed.
The governor is heading to Monroe this afternoon to survey the damage.
Downed trees and significant damage to structures are also reported in Bossier and DeSoto parishes.
Thousands are without power along the I-20 corridor. SWEPCO reports power may not be restored in Shreveport until Wednesday afternoon.
Thankfully, no fatalities reported.
