Congressman Ralph Abraham pens a letter to Tesla founder Elon Musk inviting the tycoon to relocate his California based company to north Louisiana.
Musk reopened his Tesla production facility in spite of a local stay a home order that shutters all non-essential businesses and is facing potential legal action.
“They know that they are in a hostile business climate out in California, my lord they are almost getting railroaded out of the state by trying to do what is right, and that is putting people back to work,” says Abraham.
Abraham says a 1,400-acre site called Franklin Farm in his home parish of Richland would be perfect for the electric car manufacturer.
“Hundreds of acres that have been developed with rail, we have an airport nearby, we have the ability to put fiber in, we are open for business,” says Abraham.
The Franklin Farm property is currently state-owned.
Abraham says the I-20 corridor is ripe for a tech boom given the nearby technical schools and recent high tech investments.
“His type of rapidly expanding businesses, that is what we need to grow our economy and that is what we need in Louisiana to get these good high skill jobs here,” says Abraham.
