According to former Governor Edwin Edwards biographer, Leo Honeycutt, the 93-year-old has been admitted to a Baton Rouge hospital with double pneumonia. Edwards was released from the hospital on Sunday after a two-night stay, because of breathing issues.
The former governor was taken back to the hospital Tuesday night as the breathing difficulties returned.
His wife, Trina, says doctors are administering antibiotics and conducting breathing treatments to contain and treat the pneumonia. He also tested negative again for COVID-19.
In a Facebook post, Trina Edwards said she expects her husband will be in the hospital for several days, but they expect him to get better and be back home soon.
Edwards has had other bouts with pneumonia over the last few years.
