The Krewe of Bacchus will roll virtually in 2021 and fans of the big New Orleans parade will be able to follow along on February 14th on an app that will also allow them to catch throws. Bacchus captain Clark Brennan on how the free smartphone app will entertain revelers.
“And we’re going to roll a parade virtually and we’re going to throws, bikes, doubloons, beads. We’re talking about gold doubloons, silver doubloons,” said Brennan.
Brennan said after you catch throws virtually, you will then able to collect your stash in person, even utilize curbside pick-up.
“You will be able to come in, get an email and say, I caught a silver doubloon, a real silver doubloon, and come pick it up here at the den,” said Brennan.
The app, which was conceived by a Bacchus member and developed by another, will allow users to even trade virtual throws each Sunday during Carnival season and then on February 14th, Bacchus goes virtual with their parade. Brennan explains what to expect.
“The parade will not be rolling down the street, but we’re going to take images and have a parade virtually. We’re going to get some of our kings to come on and speak, we’re going to have bands playing music,” said Brennan.
The “Throw Me Something Bacchus!” mobile smartphone app will be available on Jan. 6th.
