The Louisiana Film Channel, a streaming service of bayou state-related movies, is now more accessible for film buffs. Dr. Lucas Fry President of LFC said the channel was established to get productions of up-and-coming filmmakers and established ones to the public. Fry said many of the films have won awards and were only seen at festivals.
“This gives all those films the light of day a chance for people to see the talent that exists in Louisiana and possibly invest in the future of it,” said Fry.
Fry says the library of productions on the Louisianan Film channel has genres ranging from how to wrestle an alligator to spooky stories of the underworld of New Orleans.
“You name it if it’s Louisiana food, the culture there’s a film made about it, and that’s what we’ve put together on the Louisiana Film Channel is things that highlight the culture of Louisiana,” said Fry.
The Louisiana Film Channel app is available via iPhone and android along with Roku, Fire TV, and Chromecast. Fry says there are several free titles for viewing and they expect to launch brand new feature films soon.
“And then if you find a movie that says you must subscribe then that opens up a whole world of subscription-based things that we have behind the paywall,” said Fry.
Fry says since the channel launched, they have had viewers from all over the world download the app. He also encourages Louisiana filmmakers to submit their work, anything from original films, series, documentaries to music videos.
