It’s a winter wonderland across north Louisiana today after a rare snowfall ended Monday morning. National Weather Service Meteorologist Chris Nuttall says two to four inches of snow fell across the region.
“There are a couple of reports of five and six inches, basically just on the eastern shore of Toledo Bend that’s right basically where the eastern edge of the heaviest snow band was,” said Nuttall.
It’s the first measurable snow event in north Louisiana since 2018. Nuttall says two-to-three inches of snow fell along the I-20 corridor and there are higher snowfall totals south of the interstate.
“Natchitoches got about three to four, we had a five-inch report in Grand Cane. a six-inch report in Zwolle,” said Nuttall.
It’s a day off from school and many businesses are closed because of the snow. KNOE-TV evening news anchor Jeff Horchak says kids are enjoying the snow and so are adults.
“The snow last night and this morning was a real wet snow, so it was perfect to make snowballs and snowmen,” said Horchak.
