Three men are facing first-degree murder charges in the murder of two women in Terrebonne Parish last month. Investigators say Beaux Cormier of Kaplan hired two other men, Andrew Eskine of Carencro and Dalvin Wilson of Rayne to kill a girl he raped, instead they killed the victim’s mother Brittany Cormier, and her friend Hope Nettleton. District Attorney Joe Waitz Junior says he’ll ask the victims’ families how to proceed.
“Myself and them, after we have a long conference, a lot of soul searching as to what’s the proper thing to do, but as far as the death penalty, it is absolutely on the table,” said Waitz.
Beaux Cormier, 25-year-old Andrew Eskine of Carencro, and 22-year-old Delvin Wilson of Eunice are all charged with two counts each of first-degree murder. Waitz said there are other charges that they may pursue but murder for hire is an automatic first-degree charge. Bond is set at $2 million each, but that could change.
“I’m considering filing a motion to increase the bonds because these are very, very dangerous people. I do not want them on the streets,” said Waitz.
Waitz said dedicated police work led to the arrests of the three men and he is confident he will get convictions.
“We have admissions by two of the suspects, they have given us details that no one else would know, so I feel very confident that we will end up with convictions in this case,” said Weitz.
Beaux Cormier was already a convicted sex offender when he was arrested in Vermillion Parish last March for third-degree rape of his niece, that case is pending.
