Pelican Waste has set up a GoFundMe for the two sanitation workers who spotted a car from an Amber Alert earlier this week in St. Martin Parish and helped rescue a kidnapped 10-year-old.
The fund has raised over 4,500 dollars for Dion Merrick and Brandon Antoine and Pelican spokesperson Monica Camille said they deserve it.
“We have been having an outpour from the community and the country really and a lot of people have been interested in how to donate to them to give back to them for their heroic acts,” said Camille.
Camille said the kidnapping was a shock, but Merrick and Antoine’s heroics were not.
“These are good people, humble guys who would do that for anyone if they had the opportunity,” said Camille.
The GoFundMe has a 10,000 dollar goal.
“It is just a fund for them to help better themselves, their lives, whatever they are going through at this time,” said Camille. “They are most deserving of it, it’s whatever they would like to do with it.”
