A CDC real-world study of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines shows they reduce the risk of both symptomatic and asymptomatic infection by 90 percent once you complete your series.
The key finding confirms that people who’ve been fully vaccinated are highly unlikely to get sick or even spread COVID-19. State Health Officer Dr. Joe Kanter hailed the results.
“This is the most reassuring data to date that these vaccines can, are, and will be effective in the real world conditions here in Louisiana,” said Kanter who added that “full vaccination” is considered to be two weeks after your second shot. Those who only received one dose of either vaccine reduce the risk of any infection by 80 percent.
The study looked at 3,950 first responders, healthcare personnel, and essential workers. They were followed through and after their vaccination, and all participants self-administered COVID tests weekly and reported the results.
