LSU is taking further action in the wake of failing to properly report previous claims of sexual misconduct. The school is planning to ban former running back Derius Guice from campus and they are taking his name out of the school’s record books.
Guice holds the school’s single-game rushing record, rushing for 285 yards against Texas A&M in November of 2016. The Baton Rouge product is also the fifth all-time leading rusher at LSU.
But two women accuse Guice of sexual assault in 2016. He denies those claims.
More discipline is also coming for LSU athletic administrator Verge Ausberry, who has already been suspended for 30 days. Ausberry will not be allowed to attend LSU football games during the 2021-22 season. The Husch Blackwell report says Ausberry received a text message from a football player in 2018 who admitted he hit his girlfriend, but Ausberry did not report the incident to police or the school’s Title IX office.
Also, the university is firing the law firm Taylor Porter, which has provided the school legal representation for 80 years. The firm denies claims they participated in an effort to keep sexual misconduct claims made against former LSU Les Miles quiet.
